Last time, everything seemed to have turned for the best for the Legacy’s of Rock Valley, but will the winning streak continue?
The kids still enjoyed playing together. They were often found playing chess early in the morning while their mother cooked breakfast before school.
They were indeed a happy family. Their mother had told them that a new baby brother or sister would be coming soon, in a month or 6. She also explained, after consulting with Remington, that it would been twins (that way, she could pass Remington’s baby as her own and not tell Darian he was not her son). The kids were thrilled, they spread the rumor everywhere, even the gorcery store clerck congratulated Catherine one day on her pregnancy, even before she was truelly showing.
Catherine and Remington enjoyed their pregnancies, they shared everything, from morning sickness to back-aches due to the extra weight they had been carrying. Catherine was scared for the delivery, after what happened when Dyra was born, but Remington calmed her down, he talked to a friend of his at the lab, who knew of a green-skinned doctor in the neighboor town of Strangeville. Remington had gone over to see polination technician and had made a deal: should anything go wrong, the doc would come over to help. If one of them would go into labour, the other’s childbearing proces would be induced, thus resulting in the babies being born the same day and being able to pass of as twins. As soon as the water broke, grandma Belle would come and get the kids, she was in on the plan and didn’t intend on telling her own Chloë the truth about her birth neither. The kids would be hartbroken.
So, everything was arranged and Remington approched his third trimester. Being pregnant was harder on him than on Catherine, her body was simply more capable of having babies.
The ghost of Cat’s sister, Cole, who never accepted that his father Neil had an alien child, loathed Remington for being pregnant and scared him around all the time.
It freaked out Remington, but he was pretty prepared for the sighting most of the time. One night, a month or two before his due date however, Remington felt the bathroom calling in the middle of the night. Still half a sleep, he went to the bathroom and was startled by Cole, again. This time however, his body, already exhausted from the pregnancy, could not cope with the stress and his heart failed.
Catherine, hearing the noise coming from the bathroom, tought that Remington had gone into premature labour and rushed to his aid. She almost died of fear as well when she found her husbands dead body lying on a puddle of water in the restroom and her brother’s ghost laughing at the sight.
She burst out into tears.
“YOU CAN NOT LEAVE ME HERE REMINGTON!! COME BACK THIS INSTANT!” she shouted, while collapsing next to her husband on the floor. There she laid, all night, crying, asking Remington to come back, for her, for the children, for her unborn child, for HIS unborn child, but it was too late.
As it was his wish to be cremated and have is ashed spread next to the tree in the garden, Catherine proceded as such. She was heartbroken. Now, she was all alone in the world. Her grandmother was dead, her sister loathed her (she even arrived at the funeral wearing a skimpy top and a miniskirt, where was that girl heading to?), her parents lived far away, her husband was dead. The love of her life was dead. She mourned every single day for him, never leaving the house without kissing his picture that she had hung up on the wall in the hallway, on the way to the front door.
But she couldn’t keep crying in her nightgown for the rest of her life, she had three children, soon four that needed their mother. The nanny she had hired for help during those difficult few first months said after three months that she wouldn’t come any more “Those kids need their mother, ma’am, and you need you children. Take care of them yourself, maybe that will get you out of this horrible depression”.
For almost a week, Darian took care of his sister and himself, telling his mother when Dyra needed changing and calling for pizza two times a day.
Then the day came: Catherine was thorn out of her apathic state when her wather broke in the nursery. She instantly got some sort of a mother-earth survival instinct. She delivered her child right there in the nursery herself and proclaimed to start caring for the kids from now on, Remington would have wanted it as such.
She cried with her newborn son as he was born into this world, never knowing his father. Dune, she called him, after the hughe sand-mountain she felt she had climed in the past few months.
The next morning, the maid found her crying over the babies crib. Her heart broke for this young widow, so she broke the code and talked to her, even tough the help wasn’t allowed to engage into a conversation.
It turned out to be a brilliant thing to do. Catherine opened up for the first time in months, she poured her hart out to the other woman, feeling an instant connection. Kaylin talked about how she had lost her child, now to be a toddler, to it’s father the instant it was born. The man just ran of with the baby, the cord still attached to it, without letting Kaylinn see her child, to protect his own reputation. He had been a married man who had taken advantage of the young girl who worked for his family. He fired her right after the baby was born and wouldn’t tell her what had happened to her child.
The women bonded that day, and a friendship sprouted. From that moment on, after Kaylinn had finished her job, she would wait for Catherine to come home so they could have a chat, catch up on things. Cat had decided to help her friend get her baby back and was talking to her lawyer about the necessary procedures.
Time flew by and soon it was time for Darian’s teen birthday. He turned out a goregeous young man, who decided he was not meant for a monogamous relationship, as he proclaimed to his mother the moment he had evolved.
Cat feared the consequences but knew she must let her child live it’s own life.
So when Darian came home with girl number one, she greated her and went on with her own thing.. But number one was not going to stay the only one…

How sad, I didn’t know they could be scared to death. Now I’m afraid of ghosts. I guess you just have to be careful eh? So this was a great update. I hope to see another one up soon.
