They were so happy welcoming little Dennis in to their home. This boy was as much Cat’s as it was Kay’s and both women took an instant liking to their new son. Kaylin was extatic. Being a mother really suited her and she couldn’t have been any happier.

The only person not happy with the whole situation was surprisingly enough Déborah. The girl seemed to have second toughts about her mother’s new marriage. Going trough those hard teenage years, missing your father and with a mother who found new love with another woman turned out to be too much for the Legacy Heiress. She started rebelling and one day sported a gothic attire, with make-up and everything.

Deb going gothic

When her mother came home from an exhausting day at work to find her eldest daughter in black and ruby, she almost lost it.

“Déborah, Honney, where did you get those clothes??” she asked, in the calmest voice she could force herself to produce.
“I went shopping. You mind?” déb said, sounding really annoyed with her mother’s remark.
“Young lady, I am your mother, do not raise that tone to me.” Catherine said to her daughter. No way any child of hers was going to walk around like dressed like a vampire queen.
“Oh, tomorrow, I’m going to the hairdressers you know. I’m dying my hair black. Can I have 25 simoleans??”

That was it. Who did this little girl think she was? The queen of Pleasantville?? This was not happening, not in a million years.

“No Déborah. You are not dying your hair black and you are going to change that halloween costume for some appropriate attire right this instant. And then you are going to tell me just what is on your mind young lady.”
Déb started to mumble some protest but that was quickly stopped by one very, very angry look from her mother. Déb knew she’d better listen, her mom was great, but with 6 children of her own, she had to be strickt or the place would turn into a nuthouse.
Déb started crying. It broke Catherine’s heart to see her baby girl so sad, she shouldn’t have been so harsh on her.
“I… ” Déborah started talking between her tears “I don’t know how to act around you guys”

But mom!

What followed was an intimate mother-daughter conversation. Catherine listened to Déborah’s toughts and remarks on her relationship and realised all of the sudden that it wasn’t easy on the children, being the talk of the town. They agreeed on being a little bit more prudent about how thay acted in public and Déb agreeed on giving Kaylin a chance, she was a nice woman after all.

Déborah went to change her looks back to those of a normal 16-year old. She didn’t feel that good in the long gothic dress after all, but she had to make a statement and dressing like that sure made one.

Changing styles

Dennis had soon been with the Legacies for a few months. He was the apple of Kaylin’s eye and she, once the lover of every man in town, became a caring mother.
