But she was going to make sure her child would be the best loved kid in the neighbourhood. Her baby would lack nothing, she would stop eating before her child would be hungry. At night, Kay often dreamed about Catherine and the life she had been forced to leave behind. She had been a foolish woman, forcing her pregnancy to Catherine, she knew that now, but it was too late, Cat wanted nothing to do with her.

In the wee hours of the morning, a few days before her due date, Kaylin woke up with a terrible pain in her back. As she got out of bed, her water broke and she realised this was it, her baby was coming.

She went in the direction of her telephone to call her midwife when an awfull pain went trough her belly like a lightning bold. All she could do was scream and clutch her stomach.

She was petrified. She cried and screamed. This was not the happy moment she tought the birth of her first child should be, this pain was excruciating.

Luckily for Kaylin, the old lady who lived next door heard her screaming and came over to see what that crazy woman next door was up to. She found Kaylin in her bedroom, crying and in pain and immediatly knew what was wrong. She put her in bed, went to fetch a glas of water and some clean towels, cleaned up the mess and talked Kaylin trough her delivery, her very very long 15h delivery. But then, finaly, at 23h04 in the evening, her daughter Annie was born. Kaylin immediatly forgot all the pain she went trough and fell in love with her baby girl. This was it, the most complete love a woman could ever feel: the love for her own flesh and blood.

As she put her newborn daughter in her crib, she softly whispered: no harm will come to you my child. I’ll see to that.
